Why am I telling you there are other options to grow your business than social media if that is what Russtek Media does? Don’t get me wrong, you still need to be on social media but there are other ways as well.
For example, how often do you attend networking events?
Now that the holidays are over, networking events are starting again. If you ask us, there is nothing like meeting another business owner in person, shaking their hand and starting a conversation. For example, we can’t wait to meet a lot of you at the Walkervile Brewery in Windsor, ON for our Networking event where we will be giving away a BlackBerry Motion. (Sorry, couldn’t talk about networking without plugging our own event.)
What do you need to know when you’re out networking?
It’s easy to get caught up when you’re talking about your business and what products or services you sell. We are all passionate about what we do. When networking however, that is not the place to sell your product or service. When you’re out at a networking event, bring lots of business cards and enjoy telling your story and listening to others tell their story.
After you have accumulated a hand full of business cards and met some great business owners, the following day is when you want you want to contact these fellow business owners. After you have connected with them, that’s when you want to set up a time to meet one on one for a coffee. From there, that’s when you get more into what it is you do as well as what they do.
What are your thoughts on networking? How often do you get out to networking events?
