In the summer of 2018, myself as well as one of my clients that I manage Instagram for had been using Linktree. Linktree is a site that allows you to have one link with multiple buttons to direct traffic to where you want your audience to go.
It was a great site and best part, it was free. The only downfall was that Instagram wasn’t having it and didn’t want a third-party site as a way to help market your business. So, they disabled the use of Linktree and any other site that was similar.
When Instagram blocked Linktree, I was in the middle of a launch and just that morning had a post on Instagram that I asked my audience to “click the link in my bio.†Luckily for me, I caught it quick and scrambled to make a page on my website as fast as I could, add the links I wanted and post that up in my bio.
Since then, I have not gone back to Linktree and with the link in my bio that’s from my own site, I not only get a lot more traffic to my site, I know it won’t get shut down.
Instagram is once again starting to do the very same thing. There are a few large Instagram influencers that are being blocked by Instagram for using Linktree and have had to do the very same thing I did, create a page on their websites that will function the same way Linktree did for them.
If you are using Linktree now and haven’t had it blocked by Instagram, I would consider looking into creating a page on your website that has multiple links to the platforms and sites you want to direct your followers to.
If this is something you need help with, we can do that too!
