From your email list, to posting on your social media platforms to doing Facebook and Instagram Stories, having an “Attractive Character†is a great way for your audience to relate to you.
Before we get into that, let’s talk about how a company like Subway uses an attractive character to market their business. Before they started using this method, they were just another fast food restaurant trying to compete with McDonald’s, Burger King and all the other fast food chains. Then came a guy that started a Subway diet.
Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock you no doubt have heard about Jarod. This was a man that started to eat Subway daily and in doing that, helped him lose weight. So much so that he went from being around 425lbs down to about 190lbs.
When Subway used Jarod as their attractive character, it transformed their business because he was someone Subway’s audience could relate with. Before he made some really bad decisions that landed him in jail, Subway’s sales skyrocketed. To show just how important an attractive character is, after Subway ended his contract they lost over $500 million that first year.
Now this doesn’t mean you have to go out and hire someone to be your company’s attractive character, your company’s character can be you. You might be thinking, I’m not comfortable in front of a camera or that you don’t want to have your face all over social media. That’s ok, your attractive character is all about the story you’re telling your audience.
When I started Russtek, it was shortly after I left the Beer Store. There was a story there that worked perfectly with the transition I made into the digital marketing world and I used that to build a relationship with my audience. That was a vulnerable time and something that my audience could relate to. That is the point of an attractive character!
