What’s the difference between a Funnel and a Website?

This is something I’ve been asked a few times now since I have started my journey as a “Funnel Hacker” and got a ClickFunnels account.

At first glance, they basically look the same. You have to open your browser, type in the address or URL and you’re brought to a landing page. From that point on, they are much different!

With a website, it’s more about you or your business and your website will tell your story and showcase the services you offer. On your website you might have a blog that your audience can be redirect to, a podcast page that your users can visit or many other pages that take your user away from the from your landing page.

With attention spans starting to get a lot smaller now, the chances of your audience going back to the landing page after being redirected to another page when they start browsing is slim to none and with that, you can lose a lead.

Now, let’s talk about Funnels.

With a funnel you have one goal in mind. That goal could be to make a sale, generate a lead or maybe get your audience to attend a webinar or webclass.

With a funnel, there are no menus or links other than what you want your audience to do on that page. If you are trying to generate leads then you will have a squeeze page that has only one form and button that your audience can click on so that you get their email address in return for the value that you are providing them. This could be a free webinar, eBook or something else you’re giving them for free.

With a Funnel you are able to guide a cold or warm audience and have them ascend up your value ladder turning into buyers. From the landing page to sales page, to an upsell page and even a OTO (One Time Offer) page, the user only has one path to go down and that’s a path you send them on.

With a website you have no control over where the user goes and that could lead to you losing a potential customer or client.

With all of that said, you still need to have a website so that you can help build that relationship with your audience and it’s something where cold traffic can first learn about who you are before they enter your value ladder.

One way to make your website a lot more efficient is to turn it into a “Funnel Hub”. What that means is you will basically turn your entire website into one landing page where your audience will have everything they need to know on that one simple landing page and there you will have links to your funnels and offers.

If you want to see what that looks like, we have just launched our new website that we modeled after what Russell Brunson talks about in his Traffic Secrets book and it’s how he has his own website. We worked to make it very user friendly as well as more mobile friendly.
