Before I first started Russtek I knew how to use social media but that was about it. I had no idea what the difference between social media management and marketing was.
I took countless webinars and courses to learn this passion and it wasn’t until I found Russell Brunson and the ClickFunnels community that I really started to learn how to find my voice and really learn what marketing was.
I’ve talked before about how much I hated to read when I was growing up and into adulthood but once I started Russtek, over the last few years I fell in love with reading. Even though I’m constantly buying a new book to read, I always go back to the same 3 books.
Those books are all by Russell Brunson. Dotcom Secrets, Expert Secrets and Traffic Secrets.
I know I have talked about these books multiple times over the last couple of years but something Russell said this week really got me thinking and it made me want to talk about Expert secrets in particular.
If you want the best marketer in the world to coach and train you, that will cost you $10k. That’s right, Ten Thousand dollars. This past week Russell mentioned that everything he teaches in his coaching course is in his books and more importantly in Expert Secrets, a free book I might add.
That’s why this week and in the coming weeks I want to share some of those secrets with you in my own words as well as share how those secrets have helped me with both my business and my clients’ businesses.
This week I want to talk about finding your voice. This is something Russell talks about in Expert Secrets and is something that I feel is very important, it’s also something I’m still working on myself as I enjoy this journey.
When you are starting to find your voice, there are two areas to focus on. The first being Growth and the second being Contribution.
When you’re in the Growth stage, you start out as the Dreamer and then move to the stage of being a Reporter.
What does this mean?
As the Dreamer, this is where everything starts. This is where that lightbulb turns on above your head as you have that perfect idea and spark to start your journey. That spark starts you on the path so that you can one day serve your dream clients at the highest level.
For me, that was realizing a career I once loved was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and knowing I was meant for something a lot bigger than working in a Beer retail and logistics company.
After leaving the Beer Store, that’s when I knew I wanted to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses and teach them how they can do what I’m about to talk about in the next few weeks.
Teach them how to become an expert in their field and get their message out to the world or to their target audience.
The next step in becoming an Expert is to be a “Reporterâ€.
Being a Reporter is the fun part and where you get to learn from others while still finding your voice.
The first part to being a reporter is attending any live or virtual events that have to do with your industry and have a similar target market. Here you will be able to see the experts on stage, where you can listen and learn from them and get to know what they are talking about.
You can do this as you become an expert in the way of modeling what they are doing. NEVER copy someone. You have to find your voice and your own way while modeling what the experts are doing.
The next step in being a Reporter is to really start finding your voice by starting to publish. There are many ways you can do this but one of the best ways to do this is to start your own “show†in the way of a podcast.
This is going to set you up with a great platform and a way to interview guests that are already experts in your industry. Not only is this a great way to learn from your Dream 100 but you can also leverage their audience as well and get more eyes and ears on your podcast.
Keep in mind that, they don’t have to share the podcast interview but a good majority of them will as it also helps them like it will help you.
Being the expert in your industry, how did you get your start?
When it comes to marketing and finding your voice, I could talk for hours and this blog could go on to become a book of its own but I do respect your time so we will leave the rest for next week.
Before we get to that though, I do want to make sure you get the most out of this and really get a deep dive into becoming an expert.
What if I told you that some of the frameworks I’ve created to help teach entrepreneurs have all come from what I’ve learned from Russell….and I don’t charge anything remotely close to what he does.
