Email Marketing, Work/Life Balance & Ways To Save!

3 Powerhouse Strategies: Grow Your Business, Find Balance & Save Money!

How is it almost April already? March was a wild ride, though, a lot of fun and one of the most productive months I’ve had in some time. Not to mention, getting out on Sunday the 17th with my Dad and my Uncle for our annual tradition to wear green and enjoy some “pops” for St. Patrick’s Day!

This month we had yet another Meta outage, seeing both Facebook and Instagram go do, and once again that brought up the conversation to start using email more.

I also took a deeper dive into Notion and let me tell you, it’s really changing the way I do business and not to mention, saving me a TON of money!

With all of that said, here are some things I learned this month that can help you as well!

The Power Of Email Marketing

I said it a million times, social media is rented space. You don’t own your audience on any social media platform. Building an email list, however, allows you to own your traffic.

Why is this important? Imagine platforms like Facebook or Instagram going down permanently instead of just a few hours like they did this month, or a platform like TikTok facing a potential ban. If those are your sole marketing channels, your business could be severely impacted.

With an email list, you control communication. Your audience has opted-in to receive your message, demonstrating their interest. The question is, are you capitalizing on this valuable connection by sending regular emails?

Is The Jar Full Yet?

Entrepreneurs often get so laser-focused on work that we neglect what truly matters. We hear people like Gary Vee preach “hustle now, enjoy life later,” but why the delay? Can’t we have both?

This made me think about a video I saw years ago about rocks in a jar.

A teacher filled a jar with golf balls (representing the most important things in life) and asked if it was full. Then came rocks (important, but less so) and sand (everything else). Finally, the teacher poured in beer, demonstrating that even with important things filling our lives, there’s always room for a beer with friends.

The point? Focus on what truly matters first. Otherwise, the “sand” fills the space, leaving no room for the things that bring joy.

Personally, I struggle with leaving no room for friends. While I love my work, neglecting life outside it takes a toll. Work becomes less enjoyable when you’re burnt out.

Why Pay More?

Running a business online can be challenging, especially when bills pile up. But there are free alternatives to many essential tools!

  • CRM: Forget expensive software. Try Notion! In the past, I struggled with CRMs that either offered unnecessary features or lacked what I needed. Notion allows me to create a customized CRM that perfectly fits my requirements.

  • Social Media Scheduling: While platforms like Loomly, what I’m currently using, offer great features, consider scheduling directly through social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram for a free solution.

  • Content Creation: Ditch the hefty price tag of Photoshop! Explore free options like Canva for creating stunning visuals. For more advanced editing, GIMP, a free Photoshop alternative, might be the answer.

The point is, you don’t have to break the bank as a startup. There are plenty of free options to get you started!

This Month's Quote:

“A 40 hour time-blocked work week, I estimate, produces the same amount of output as a 60+ hour work week pursued without structure.”
