Why I Don’t Set Resolutions (And What I Do Instead)

Health, Wealth, and Relationships: My Plan for 2026

Happy New Year, everybody! I hope you had a great holiday season.

I know I’m a little late saying that, but on Christmas night, I came down with whatever that terrible flu was and have basically been in bed until just this past weekend. 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend.

Now onto what I want to talk about this week, I have a question for you: Did you set a New Year’s Resolution?

Personally, I’m not one to set “resolutions.” They tend to fade by February. Instead, I like to set attainable goals in three specific categories: Health, Wealth, and Relationships.

This year, I have some big plans, especially involving my girlfriend and my business, but the key to hitting them isn’t willpower; it’s planning.

Let’s dive right in!

The "Big Three" Framework

When it comes to setting goals, break it down into the 3 big areas of your life…

  • Health: What are you looking at improving here? Physical or mental? Set a goal here you can check back on each month.
  • Wealth: Does this have to do with your career? Looking to start a side hustle? What are your goals in this area?
  • Relationships: This can be with yourself, family, or a partner. I have some major goals for my relationship this year.

I plan all of this using my All-In-One Notion Planning Template to track all of this and more (More on that in next week’s email). It handles my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reviews. If you want to use the exact system I use to plan my year, CLICK HERE!

Physical Books vs. Audiobooks

With the 3 main areas I’ll be setting goals in, I do have a couple goals I want to talk about here.

I usually listen to an audiobook every week or two. But for 2026, I want to change how I consume information.

My goal is to read a minimum of one physical book a month. There is something different about sitting down, holding a book, and focusing without distractions.

I’m curious—are you a reader or a listener? And if you read, are you team Fiction or Non-Fiction?

The Nightly Digital Detox

This ties directly into my reading goal. When I looked at my screen time stats recently, it was a wake-up call.

We spend too much time scrolling. So, I am implementing a Nightly Digital Detox. No scrolling, no notifications, and no blue light right before bed. Instead, I’ll use that time to read a physical book or use an “e-reader” (The Kindle app on my Fold 4) and make sure I have focus mode on.

It’s about giving your mind a chance to actually rest and reset. Is this something you think you could do?

Are you ready to crush 2026?

This Week's Quote
