Instagram is becoming one of the biggest social media platforms and is an incredible tool for businesses to reach their target market.
It takes a lot more then just posting a great image with some text added for it to become affective. Like anything, you need to work at it for it to work for you.
Instagram is a platform where you need to grab your audience’s attention with a high-quality image and if you don’t, your audience will keep scrolling. Now that you have your audience’s attention, in order to keep them interested you need to have great copy to back that image up.
Something simple that doesn’t tell your audience a story or give them something they want will make them keep on scrolling.
Having a great image and telling a story on your post isn’t enough to grow your following. You need to use related hashtags. The one thing I have seen a lot, is people using popular hashtags that has nothing to do with the image or the story. For example, the hashtag “love†has recently been used 1.4 million times but is that related to your target market?
The next thing you NEED to do, and this is something a lot of people don’t do, is ENGAGE with your audience!!! Instagram is a social media platform and if you’re not social on it, it’s not going to work for you. It’s that simple.
If you are a business that sells coffee mugs, you are going to want to be engaging with coffee drinkers. Start researching and follow hashtags that have to do with coffee and there you have it. Start to engage with these people and create that relationship. Once you have their trust and build that relationship you are as good as gold!
An argument I see often is that using a scheduler for your posts significantly decreases your reach. I disagree, having a scheduler and planning out your content is great, but for that to work, you need to engage with your audience.
