Recently we had a post on Instagram promoting a challenge that Russell Brunson was doing called “One Funnel Awayâ€. The post itself isn’t what I want to talk about today, what was in the comments is.
One of the comments on that post was “Your photos are awesome. I like them!â€
That seems innocent enough, but that particular post wasn’t a “great photo†so to speak it was just a promotional image. That’s not the only time I have had comments like that.
How often do you get a notification that someone has liked one of your photos and then when you open Instagram you notice it’s was from something you posted 40 weeks ago?
Now, why is it that someone would go all the way back and like a particular post and nothing else. Could be because of a hashtag you used, and it was something that they related with? Maybe.
More often than not, it’s a bot liking your posts and making those comments.
Why is that such a bad thing?
Most businesses use these bots to help with engagement because they don’t have the time to do it themselves. This is something you need to make time for. Even if it’s just a half hour a day, engaging on Instagram is the best way to grow.
If for example you have your bot program comment on the hashtag #yqg and you set it to say, “We love this photo! You should check out our profile!â€
That seems innocent enough but what if the photo isn’t something that’s meant for a comment like that? Also, what would make us want to check out a profile that leaves comments like this?
With Instagram, you want to be genuine, have a great message and you want to follow that up with engagement of your own. Think about a company that genuinely comments on your posts and strikes up a conversation with you on your posts, is that a company that you will want to know more about? Is that a company that you’re going to want to do business with in the future?
I say, leave the bots behind and challenge yourself to set 30 minutes a day aside to spend engaging and see how well your reach is growing. If you absolutely don’t have that time to spend, we would love to help you with that!
