More Instagram updates???

Recently Instagram just launched several updates and added a bunch of features…and took one away. What they took away was the ability to see how many people have liked a photo on the accounts you follow.

Before we go any further and before everyone loses their minds, I want to say, the algorithm has not changed in this round of updates. That means, keep engaging and building relationships with your audience.

Back to the updates and Instagram taking away the ability to see likes. I have had a few conversations about this with other marketers and there is a mixed opinion on the matter.

There are a lot of people that absolutely hate this and feel that the ability to not see likes will hurt their marketing efforts. In my opinion, this is the furthest from the truth. You are still able to see who likes your content and I ask you, take a hard look at who is liking your photos?

Are the people liking your content all potential leads? Same thing goes with followers. Everyone seems to think you need 10,000 followers and tons of likes to “make it” on Instagram.

Again, I have to disagree with that. If you want to be successful on Instagram, you need to put out quality content and you need to engage with others in your target market. This is how you grow and how you build relationships. The more you engage with others and build those relationships, the more engagement you will get in return.
