In this week’s blog I want to talk about just how powerful social media is and I’ll tell you two stories to show you just how powerful it is and how it can be used in a positive way!
The first story I want to talk about is how I reached out to an influencer and a top rated podcaster who has a 6 figure business.
A short time ago when I really got into using Tik Tok and started to grow my following there I came across a gentleman by the name of Zachery Babcock. This is a guy who has an amazing story and a great podcast talking about entrepreneurship.
I won’t get into that too much as I do have my interview with him coming up this Thursday but when I launched Let’s Chat with Russtek, it was a goal of mine to have him as a guest on the podcast.
What I will tell you though is how I reached out and how I ended up getting him on the show. Hearing his story and his message I continually engaged with him not only on Tik Tok but on Instagram as well and it was just a short time ago that I commented about podcasting.
It all goes about to using the Gary Vee $1.80 Strategy. Instead of using hashtags though, he was someone I wanted to connect with so I kept adding my “2 cents” on his posts.
On his post, I commented that I would love to get to the point with my show that I could have him on. To my surprise, he commented back and told me to reach out. After a couple emails we were set and he was scheduled to record! This week you’ll get to hear that interview!
Someone that has a far greater following and has interviewed some of the biggest entrepreneurs in the game allowed me to sit down with him for about 20 minutes and have a great chat about his story and how he got started. That alone is why you should always be engaging on all of your platforms. You never know what can happen.
The next story I want to tell is about a family on Tik Tok and a little girl who has cancer. Now, there is nothing good about having cancer and as heartbreaking as that is the community and family that Tik Tok has become for so many of us has rallied in support for this amazing little girl.
A couple Saturday’s ago I was at home on a Friday night relaxing and 2 friends of mine that I met on Tik Tok, went live on Instagram in support of this little girl, Jocelyn. The reason they went live was to shave their heads, right there live on Instagram in support of Jocelyn as she had to shave her head.
They didn’t hesitate and right there live on Instagram they got their shavers and started to cut all their hair off. While they were doing this there were others in the comments as was I, showing so much love and support for this as it was an incredibly beautiful moment.
Not long after, I was being called out and asked to join in. Without even giving it a second thought, I got my tripod, my shaver and jumped in on the live and started to shave my head as well.
With everything going on in the world, there is so much negative but when you chose to follow and engage with the people that inspire you, social media can be an incredibly powerful tool and bring so much positive into the world!
