Would you pay one million dollars for a used phone?

Telling Your Story

Whether you are creating content for social media, a sales letter, or copy for your website, everything should revolve around a specific framework. This is the Hook, Story, Offer framework. It ties directly into what Russell Brunson calls the Perfect Webinar.

Yes, it’s called the “Perfect Webinar,” but you can use this structure for almost anything. The goal is to hook your audience immediately. On social media, this happens in the first 3 seconds of your content or with your headline or subheadline on your funnel or website. In a video or on a website, the story is what allows your audience to relate to you. It lets them know who you are and how you can solve their specific problem.

Creating an Irresistible Offer

One of the best ways to stand out is to turn a standard offer into an irresistible one. Russell Brunson often uses an example involving a phone to illustrate this.

Imagine I am selling a used Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. On its own, the retail value with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive is about $2,000. You probably would not buy a used one from me when you could just buy a brand new one for the same price.

Now, imagine I change the offer. What if that phone contained every marketing course I have ever taken, all converted into eBooks? Would you pay $4,000 for it then?

What if I told you that every high-level contact I have, such as Russell Brunson or Rachel Pederson, was in the contact list? What if those experts agreed to answer your questions because I sent you? At that point, people have been known to offer $20,000 or even $1,000,000 for a sit-down session with them, and now you have access to them. Would you pay, say, $100,000? $500,000? More for that single phone?

The phone is just a tool. The value comes from the “stack” of assets included with it. You can apply this to your own business. If you sell social media management as a service, make it irresistible by adding email marketing or website design. See where I’m going with this?

The Perfect Framework

When you tell your story, focus on how you learned or earned the solution you are selling. Follow this simple structure for your next piece of content:

  1. Share your backstory.
  2. Share three secrets or tips that solve a problem.
  3. Provide a clear Call to Action.

This framework works for social media posts, multi-day challenges, or even in-person events. Give the Hook, Story, Offer method a try the next time you create content.

This Week's Quote

"The story is the bridge between the hook and the offer. It is the only way to build enough value in the mind of your customer so they will actually take you up on your offer."
