I learned a lot in the past week!
In between a week-long trip to Hamilton to see my girlfriend and a weekend away with family in the beach towns, Grand Bend and Bayfield, a lot happened! Let’s chat about it!
Why You Should Use vidIQ for Your YouTube Channel
If you have a YouTube channel, why are you not using vidIQ? I’ve known about vidIQ for some time and have been receiving their newsletter emails, but I never took the plunge until recently. After hitting the 1,000 subscriber mark, I decided to take my channel seriously and revisited vidIQ to see how it could help. After a quick trial, I was convinced. Here’s how I use it:
- Script Writing: I still use Voicepal to capture my thoughts and ideas for scripts and newsletters. However, I now take those scripts and optimize them using vidIQ, which is specifically designed for YouTube. It helps me structure my scripts better while keeping my own words intact.
- Keyword Research: vidIQ assists with keyword research, optimizing your channel and existing videos. It generates title ideas, descriptions, and tags, and provides a score to show what’s working and what’s not.
It’s a game-changer for growing your YouTube channel.
Make Time – A Productivity Game-Changer
Make Time by Jake Knapp and John Zuratsky is one of the most recent books I’ve read, and I love its approach to productivity. The book focuses on four key areas:
- Highlight: Choose one task as your most important for the day. This is your “highlight” that must get done.
- Laser: Stay laser-focused on your tasks by avoiding distractions.
- Energize: Find ways to energize yourself to tackle your tasks. For me, this means early morning walks and exercise.
- Reflect: Reflect on your day by noting three wins and areas where you struggled. Use this reflection to improve tomorrow.
Embracing Failure
Failure is hard to take and even harder to admit. However, recognizing failure is a good thing. I recently experienced a significant failure and took the following steps to address it:
- Acknowledge It: Admit the failure and take responsibility.
- Create an Action Plan: Develop a plan to improve and prevent the failure from happening again.
- Follow Through: Stick to your action plan and continue improving.
Failure is a part of growth. By acknowledging it and taking steps to improve, you can turn setbacks into opportunities for success.
